Austrian hospitality compliance guide

Austria hospitality compliance and regulations

Austrian properties must issue digitally signed cash receipts under RKSV, and register guest data electronically — in much of the country through Feratel's reporting system. SabeeApp is A-Trust certified for the first and connects directly to the second.

First requirement

What is RKSV?

Under the Austrian Cash Registers Security Regulation (RKSV), in effect from 1 April 2017, every cash receipt needs to be signed digitally with a unique QR code. This is an obligation for every business operating in Austria.

Without an invoicing system capable of issuing digital cash receipts, a property can only comply manually — buying fiscal printer hardware, registering every invoice by hand and cross-checking the data to avoid mistakes.

Certified vs manual

Why a certified system matters

  • No hardware costs or installation
  • No incorrect data from human error
  • Less administration for hotel staff
  • A future-proof business solution

How SabeeApp handles RKSV

SabeeApp Hotel PMS is certified by A-Trust. You initiate the one-time connection with them in the SabeeApp Marketplace; from then on all invoices are issued with a QR code, generated and signed automatically in the background.

Second requirement

Electronic guest registration via Feratel

Feratel provides tourism solutions for hosts, communities and tourism organisations, headquartered in Innsbruck. Its Electronic Reporting System is the registration route many Austrian regions use, turning guest registration into an automatic background task rather than a form at the desk.

SabeeApp connects to both sides of Feratel: the online distribution channel through the Channel Manager, and the Electronic Reporting System through the Marketplace.

Two points to confirm before publishing

Austria was recorded internally as having one requirement, but the live site documents two: RKSV and Feratel reporting. And SabeeApp's Feratel page doesn't name the underlying legal duty or authority behind guest registration, nor which regions mandate Feratel specifically — worth confirming both before this goes live.

How SabeeApp handles Feratel reporting

Guests can check in online while their details are recorded in SabeeApp. Once the connection is activated in the Marketplace, the required information is sent to the Electronic Reporting System automatically in the background.

Not with a certified invoicing system. Without one, complying means buying fiscal printer hardware, registering every invoice manually and cross-checking the data yourself. A certified system issues the digital receipts instead — no hardware, no manual entry.

Yes. SabeeApp is certified by A-Trust, a market leader in issuing RKSV certificates. You initiate the one-time connection with A-Trust in the SabeeApp Marketplace, after which every invoice is issued with its QR code automatically.
