Offering a discount code for a guest can definitely increase your chances to keep loyal customer.
Discount coupons can be used for various occasions. For example:
- Send a discount code for those guest who already checked out. Compose a nice "After departure" e-mail, thank them for their stay, ask to evaluate you on TripAdvisor or Facebook and add a discount code which they can use for their next stay. This will be an absolute motivation for them to make a direct reservation on your website and get the well-deserved discount for their next stay.
- Organise promotions on social networks. For example, create a promotion on Facebook and say that the "First 5 lucky guests who book directly on our website and enter the discount code, gets 30% discount of their accommodation". Add the time limit of this promotion and keep it visible on your Facebook profile, share on other social media platforms and prepare yourself for a boom in direct reservations :)
- Create personalised discounts for particular guests. An example: your guest enjoyed staying at your place, but they were not satisfied because of the noisy street just outside the window. You can create a discount code and let them know that if next time they book on your website they can expect to receive a nice discount and a more quiet room :)
Setup of the coupon is quite simple.:
1. First go to the Prices / Coupons menu.
2. Here you will have several configuration options. Let's check them one by one.
As a last step, please make sure to fill in all required fields and hit Save button.
After that, your coupon will appear in the list, just like this example.
Coupons list
Here you will find all of your created coupons.
1. You can set up filters to find coupons by Availablity, Value or Status. You can also use multiple search criteria at the same time.
2. You can use the delete button to delete the coupons which have not been used yet. If you delete a coupon it will not show up in the list anymore.
3. If a coupon has been used at least once, you can archive it, but deleting it is no longer allowed. Archived coupons remain visible in the list but cannot be used again. Additionally, you cannot create a new coupon with the same name as an archived coupon.
4. You can also export the coupons list to Excel.
5. You can only edit two fields in existing coupons: Name and Limited value.
The Limited value field is displayed only when the Available setting is set to Limited (i.e., the coupon has a restricted number of uses). When updating this field, the new value must be greater than the number of reservations where the coupon has already been applied.
For example: If you try to set the Limited value to 5 but the coupon has already been used in 6 reservations, an error message will appear.
