🌿 Environmental Fee (Climate Crisis Resilience Fee) – Greece

Starting January 1, 2024, all accommodations in Greece are required to implement a new Environmental Fee, officially titled the Climate Crisis Resilience Fee. This fee replaces the former Accommodation Tax, as established in Article 30 of Law 5073/2023.

⚠️ Key Points to Remember

  • The Environmental Fee is not the same as City Tax, and does not replace it.
  • It is added on top of the final price, regardless of the tax model (NET or GROSS).
  • The fee varies by season (high / low) and depends on the property type.

🔧 How to Set Up the Environmental Fee in SabeeApp

1. Set Values in General Tax Settings

Go to:

Settings → General Settings → Tax Settings

If your account is registered in Greece, you'll see 3 additional fields:

  • Environmental Fee Type

(locked: always “per room / night”)

  • Environmental Fee – High Season

    (editable, default is 0.00)

  • Environmental Fee – Low Season

    (editable, default is 0.00)

Input validation is in place to prevent special characters (except “.”).

After entering the values:

  • Use the calculator to verify results.
  • Click Save and choose your update method:

Update and apply for future reservations: Applies the new fee to all confirmed & option reservations from today onward.

Update and don’t apply for existing reservations: Applies the new fee only to future reservations created after saving.

2. Define Display Name for Folio & Invoices

Go to:

Settings → General Settings → Other Settings

Here, you can define how the fee appears in the Folio table and on invoices.

If you use multiple languages, enter names for each one.

📁 How the Environmental Fee Works in SabeeApp

Behind the scenes, the environmental fee is treated as a system-default service category, with two items:

  • Environmental Fee – High Season
  • Environmental Fee – Low Season

This allows easier integration without modifying existing tax models.

How It Appears in the Folio

Once set up:

  • The fee appears as a separate item in the Folio table.

  • It is based on stay dates:

    • High Season → High Season Fee
    • Low Season → Low Season Fee
    • Mixed Stay Dates → Both fees applied per day

📸 Folio examples:

Fee Properties:

  • Category = Environmental Fee
  • Quantity = 1 per room per night
  • VAT = 0% by default
  • Can be routed to group Folio
  • Can be invoiced separately
    • Default invoice description is blank
